we understand that some people are moving to Rochester from out of the area or may be in need some extra assistance to transition into the role of Rental Stylist.

This is why we provide New Renter Checklists & Resources, offer 2 rental options, and keep a select number of payrolled Stylist Positions for those in the early stages of building a clientele.

Full Day Chair Rental: $110/Day

Full Day Chair Rental covers rental of a chair/booth from 8am-9pm.

Rental Period: 6month or 12month contract

...BUT...
we understand that some stylists may be transitioning from another career path or life stage. Part Time hours might work better for your needs.

This is why we provide New Renter Checklists & Resources, offer2 rental options for part time renters, and have a select number of payrolled Stylist Positions for those in the early stages of building a clientele.

Half-Day Renter Options: Rates Vary (See below).

Each Half Day Shift Covers 6hours. Rental rates vary based on demand for each shift. Chair/booth rental in the main salon room:

AM Shift: 8am-2pm

PM Shift: 3pm-9pm

Mon-Wed AM Shifts: $60

Mon-Wed PM Shifts: $80

Th-Fri AM Shifts: $75

Th-Fri PM Shifts: $95

Saturday AM: $80

Saturday PM: $60

Sunday: Salon Closed

Do you value hard work AND efficiency? So do we! That’s why we created the 6 week Apprenticeship Program (6 week, on average). This is for a person who wants to do a tour of the different aspects of styling and running a business.

Each 4-8 week apprenticeship covers a different in-depth area and prepares you to become a well-rounded, stylist (on the path to profitability) in 6-9months.

While apprenticing, you are offered free mentor-guided educational sessions, as well as paid Assistant hours, working in salon. This balance will help you to acquire skills necessary to become a profitable renter.

Mentor Guided Education

This is unpaid time with your Mentor Stylist dedicated to your education, at no charge to you. Includes hands-on practice and self-led suggested assignments.

Time investment: 2-4hrs, guided, 1-on-1 time, each month.

Compensation

Apprentice’s are paid $16/hr + tips while assisting in salon.

Time investment: 10-20hrs/week (can vary week-to-week).

Upon successful completion, you may be offered a Stylist placement at Parlour, on Commission and/or Payroll while you continue to grow your client base.

Required Experience

• 500+ hrs in Cosmetology School and/or Temporary License
• Proven Work History
• References

Why Apprentice?

The Curl Market has been growing rapidly since 2010 and we need Curl Specialists faster than any other area in our salon (and possibly even in the industry). If you are eager to learn the most profitable cutting, coaching, & styling skills in the salon, please apply.

Do you have a bittersweet relationship with Curls? We understand. That’s usually because, historically and currently, cosmetology school curriculum does not adequately prepare stylists for this high-demand, niche market. We want to prepare you.

Apprenticeship Goal

This is a program to get you working hands-on with high-needs Curly Clients as soon as possible. This program will allow you to be eligible to receive New Client Curly referrals from the Parlour network.

Your primary job will be to assist a seasoned Mentor and you will have the opportunity to do weekly practice and demo of your acquired skills.

Learning the Parlour Curl Fundamentals alongside a seasoned Mentor Stylist will also help you discern which national curl courses would be most valuable for future study.

While apprenticing, you are offered weekly mentor-guided educational sessions, in addition to paid Assistant hours, working in salon. This balance will help you to  acquire skills necessary to become a profitable renter.

• Mentor stylists may choose to expedite a segment within a shorter timeframe  if the apprentice demonstrates mastery of a skill or concept.
• Apprentices will be given practice assignments and demonstrate acquired skill on models or mannequins weekly.

For Colorists: Coloring Curls

Do you have passion for hair color? 

To be an excellent Colorist is to be using both the logical problem solving part of your brain, and the artistic, intuitive part to achieve an ideal outcome. Unlike cutting, hair coloring has aspects that are quite abstract. Because we cannot see the process, we have to plan strategically and trust the outcome.

Why Apprentice in an Area Covered in Hair School?

The Western New York and Finger Lakes area has a rich history of producing excellent colorists. It is essential to get additional training and position yourself as an expert in order to stand out in the mature Rochester market.

Apprenticeship Goal

Completing this program will position you as a Parlour Colorist and give you eligibility to to receive New Client color referrals from the Parlour network.

Additionally, learning the fundamentals alongside a seasoned Mentor Stylist will also help you discern which national color courses you may want to pursue in future.

Mentor-Guided Education

This is time with your Mentor Stylist dedicated to your education at no charge to you. Includes hands-on practice and self-led suggested assignments.

Time investment: 2-4hrs guided hours each week.

Compensation

Apprentice’s are paid $16/hr. While apprenticing, you are in the process of acquiring specialty skills while assisting. Upon successful completion, you may be offered a Chair Rental placement at Parlour.

For Colorists: Coloring Curls

The ideal Reception Coordinator is socially saavy, trustworthy, and has the heart of servant leadership.

Their primary function is to act as liaison between guest and staff, facilitating appointment reservations and all communications related to both. This person must think well under pressure and consistently represent the salon and the brand in its best light to guests. Our reception coordinator has their hands on all guest touch points, both digital and in salon. They are aware of guest communications, work very closely with the owner to support brand specific tasks, and anticipate the clerical needs of stylists throughout the day. The reception coordinator manages transitions between guests coming and going.

Requirements:

• Some evening hours are required.
• Basic math skills, as well as working knowledge of Apple and Google productivity software.
• Social IQ is a MUST.
• Physical capacity to move back/forth and up/down frequently. Reception coordinator is often on their feet assisting guests and/or stylists to facilitate guest comforts. A standing desk with comfort bar height chair is used and allows for this constant readiness.
• The ideal candidate must have consistent work history, reliable transportation and be able to work independently to create and manage their weekly and daily task list.

Bonus Points:

• Familiarity with salon booking software (especially Vagaro) is a huge plus.
• Familiarity with salon reception responsibilities is a huge plus.
• Comfort shooting and editing iPhone pictures/videos is also a plus.
• City of Rochester residents a plus. (Parlour benefits from City of Rochester grants and programs whenever available. If equally qualified candidates are being considered, Parlour is beholden to consider City of Rochester residents first.)
